My name is Brian Main and I live in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
First and foremost, I am by no means a horologist. As an electronics engineer by trade and woodworker by hobby, my appreciation of time recorders is born purely out of the masterful design, engineering, and aesthetic beauty of these machines. The longevity of their use, often under extreme circumstances (and mostly with user hatred and abuse!) never fails to amaze me.
I first encountered them when I rescued an NTR time recorder destined for a skip following closure of a local factory on Tyneside in the 1980s. I have collected and restored many clocks since that time; mostly now re-sold, but some models kept.
Please note that I now rarely collect or restore any of these clocks, and don’t have any clocks or parts for sale. I created this website for information and reference purposes only, to assist and correspond with other time recorder enthusiasts and to help document the history of these machines.
For help and advice or any information you have or require regarding time recorders please email clockinfo@workclocks.co.uk and either myself or fellow time recorder restorer and enthusiast Desmond Bull will try to assist.
If you have any additional or corrective information, or any different model clock pictures, please send this to us using the contact information above and I will endeavour to include them on the site.
