British Time Recorders BeTaR trademark

British Time Recorders Ltd was incorporated in 1917 under company number 147090, registered at 149 Farringdon Road, London EC. They were not strictly a manufacturer of clocks, but primarily a large independent distributor and service provider for International Time Recording CompanyNational Time Recorder Company, and possibly also Gledhill-Brook. In their early days, BTR did sell clocks branded as BeTaR, which appear to be their own customised versions of NTR machines, with whom they had a close business partnership.

The company was acquired by Blick in around 1964, but operated as British Time Recorders Ltd until changing its name to British Time Ltd in 1981. Although still registered, the company’s address is now listed as Stanley House, Bramble Road, Swindon, implying that it was acquired by the Stanley Group along with Blick in 2004.

Many ITR and NTR clock dials and service labels can be found displaying the British Time Recorders name – two examples of this are shown:
